Optoelectrical Devices for Neural Interfacing: Engineering Integration, Stability, and Multimodal Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Implantable optoelectrical devices are an effective resource for the modulation and monitoring of neural activity with high spatiotemporal resolution. This review discusses current challenges faced by these devices and outlines future perspectives for the development of next‐generation neural interfaces targeting chronic, multisite, and multimodal ...

Erythrocytes in multiple sclerosis: forgotten contributors to the pathophysiology? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease characterised by lymphocytic infiltration of the central nervous system and subsequent destruction of myelin and axons. On the background of a genetic predisposition to autoimmunity, environmental triggers

Melt Electrowriting High Resolution Poly(ethylene‐co‐vinyl acetate) Scaffolds for Soft Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work pioneers melt electrowriting (MEW) of polyethylene vinyl acetate (PEVA) to fabricate ultra‐compliant, high‐resolution scaffolds. By integrating microscale precision with soft tissue‐like biomechanics, PEVA overcomes stiffness‐driven limitations of conventional MEW polymers, establishing a mechanically biomimetic platform for soft tissue ...

Mitochondrial respiratory and antioxidative enzyme activities in turkey meat

open access: yesAnimal, 2012
Meat quality and (anti)oxidative metabolism of m. pectoralis superficialis (MPS), m. gastrocnemius (MG) and m. iliotibilialis lateralis (MIL) from turkey toms were analysed. After slaughter, pH of MPS and MG decreased and electrical conductivity of the MPS increased. The MG had generally higher pH values.
