Defect‐engineered tungsten oxide nanowires as redox‐metabolic nanozymes for gut inflammation‐infection syndromes

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Defect‐engineered WO3 nanowires serve as a multifunctional nanozyme platform to treat IBD complicated by Salmonella co‐infection. By integrating catalytic ROS/RNS scavenging and targeted metabolic interference of pathogens via molybdenum substitution, these nanowires effectively resolve intestinal oxidative stress, inhibit infection, and restore ...

Alterations in lipid metabolism and antioxidant status in lichen planus

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dermatology, 2015
Lichen planus (LP), a T-cell-mediated inflammatory disorder, wherein inflammation produces lipid metabolism disturbances, is linked to increase in cardiovascular (CV) risk with dyslipidemia. Increased reactive oxygen species and lipid peroxides have also been implicated in its pathogenesis. The aim of the study was to evaluate the status on lipid ...

High atmospheric pressure rescues plant growth under humidity stress: A model for climate‐resilient deep underground agriculture

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
High atmospheric pressure (120 kPa) in deep underground counteracts humidity‐induced physiological stress in plants, stabilizing water balance and enhancing antioxidative defenses. This synergy boosts biomass despite elevated humidity, demonstrating sustainable deep underground agriculture potential under climate uncertainty.

Role of selenium in the pathophysiology of cardiorenal anaemia syndrome

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 770-780, April 2025.
Abstract Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) have multiple bidirectional mechanisms, and anaemia is one of the critical factors that are associated with the progression of the two disorders [referred to as cardiorenal anaemia syndrome (CRAS)].

Biological Potential of Novel Methoxy and Hydroxy Substituted Heteroaromatic Amides Designed as Promising Antioxidative Agents: Synthesis, 3D-QSAR Analysis, and Biological Activity. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper discusses antioxidative and biological activities of 25 novel amidino substituted benzamides with a variety of heteroaromatic nuclei attached to the benzamide moiety and with a variable number of methoxy or hydroxy substituents.

Increased calcification by erythrophagocytosis in aortic valvular interstitial cells

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1469-1473, April 2025.
Abstract Background Calcific aortic valve disease (CAVD) progresses over time to severe aortic stenosis and eventually heart failure. Recent evidence indicates that intraleaflet haemorrhage (ILH) strongly promotes CAVD progression. However, it remains poorly understood how it mechanistically contributes to valvular calcification.

The roles played by the transcriptional regulators PPARalpha, HIF-1alpha and SIRT1 in the control of cardiac metabolism

open access: yes, 2014
The failing heart is characterised by altered energy substrate metabolism, which is a potential target for the development of new heart failure treatments.

The Antioxidant Potential of Vitamins and Their Implication in Metabolic Abnormalities

open access: yesNutrients
Vitamins are micronutrients necessary for the normal function of the body. Although each vitamin has different physicochemical properties and a specific role in maintaining life, they may also possess a common characteristic, i.e., antioxidant activity.

Reversal of Chronic Stress‐Induced Inflammaging by Bazi Bushen Formula Through AMPK‐Sirtuins Axis Activation and Myeloid Reset

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
Chronic stressors trigger systemic immune remodeling marked by myeloid expansion and lymphoid suppression, and this immune imbalance subsequently drives tissue pathology through proinflammatory signaling and senescence amplification, with the lung and kidney confirmed as the most vulnerable target organs.

Donkwa Enriched With Goron‐Tula (Azanza garckeana) Modulates Sexual Behavior and Activity of Enzymes Linked With Erectile Dysfunction in High‐Fat Diets/ Streptozotocin‐Induced (STZ/HFD) Diabetic Rats

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
(A) Mount number, (B) mount latency, (C) intromission number, and (D) intromission latency are the parameters of sexual behavior. Met = metformin. D100 = 100 Donkwa. D90G10 = 90% Donkwa + 10% Goron‐Tula. D85G15 = 85% Donkwa + 15% Goron‐Tula. D80G20 = 80% Donkwa + 20% Goron‐Tula. The mean ± standard error of the mean (SEM) expressed the results. *Values
