Early Bleeding Risk After DOAC Initiation With Concomitant Amiodarone in Older Adults With Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Amiodarone is frequently co‐prescribed with direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) in atrial fibrillation (AF), but its impact on early bleeding risk after DOAC initiation in older adults remains uncertain. We evaluated short‐term safety outcomes associated with concomitant amiodarone use at the time of DOAC initiation.

Large Language Models and Retrieval‐Augmented Platforms for the Diagnosis and Management of Periodontal Diseases: A Blinded Expert‐Rated Comparative Study of 11 Systems

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Periodontology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim To compare retrieval‐augmented systems with general‐purpose large language models (LLMs) on standardised periodontal clinical vignettes. Materials and Methods Eleven AI systems were evaluated: nine general‐purpose LLMs, one general‐purpose retrieval‐augmented platform (Perplexity) and one medical‐domain retrieval‐augmented platform ...

Developing a machine learning model to predict renal function decline within three years using one‐year longitudinal data in patients with type 2 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
We developed a machine learning model to predict renal function decline in patients with type 2 diabetes and preserved kidney function. Using one year of routine clinical data, the model forecasts eGFR decline over three years, enabling early identification of high‐risk patients and supporting timely, targeted therapeutic interventions.

Associations of skeletal muscle mass and strength with arterial stiffness in type 2 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Lower skeletal muscle mass and lower handgrip strength were associated with higher arterial stiffness in individuals with type 2 diabetes. Assessment of both parameters may provide complementary information regarding vascular risk. ABSTRACT Sarcopenia is prevalent in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and may contribute to increased ...
