Abstract The extremely rich palaeontological record of the horse family, also known as equids, has provided many examples of macroevolutionary change over the last ~55 Mya. This family is also one of the most documented at the palaeogenomic level, with hundreds of ancient genomes sequenced.

The cell surface T118A mutant ANTXR2 receptor binds PA.
(A) Flow cytometric analysis of PA binding to CHO-R1.1 cells and CHO-R1.1 cells engineered to express WT or mutant ANTXR2-EGFP fusion proteins. The cells were incubated with PA and then with a PA-specific antibody followed by an APC-labeled secondary ...

Phagolysosomal resistance hypothesized to be a danger signal
Does the adaptive immune system detect and respond to microbial resistance to innate immune effectors? Is physical linkage between epitopes of pathogenic antigens, an underlying thread running through much of mammalian immune response? Can enzymatic detoxification of reactive oxygen species and nitric oxide work as an adjuvant in vaccines?

The structure of tumor endothelial marker 8 (TEM8) extracellular domain and implications for its receptor function for recognizing anthrax toxin. [PDF]
Anthrax toxin, which is released from the gram-positive bacterium Bacillus anthracis, is composed of three proteins: protective antigen (PA), lethal factor (LF), and edema factor (EF).

Identification of novel pQTL‐SNPs associated with lung adenocarcinoma risk: A multi‐stage study
Abstract Background and Objective To explore the association between protein quantitative trait loci (pQTL‐SNPs) and the risk of LUAD. Methods “Blood +” high depth blood proteomics analysis was performed on plasma from female LUAD patients and female healthy controls, and combined with proteomics data from tumors and adjacent non‐tumor tissues of ...

Characterizing the Biomechanical and Biochemical Properties of Mouse Uterine Tissue [PDF]
For a successful pregnancy, the uterus and the cervix work together as a biomechanical structure to protect the fetus until term. During gestation, typically 37 weeks, the uterus undergoes a growth transformation to accommodate the growing fetus and to ...

Cell‐extracellular matrix interactions are critical regulators of cancer cell growth and invasion. This study revealed depletion of two collagen‐binding receptors, α1‐ and α2‐integrins, in aggressive forms of prostate cancer. Loss of α1‐ and α2‐integrins triggered an autocrine secretion of TGFβ leading to EMT and elevated metastatic capacity.

Changes in fucosylation and sialylation were associated with the secretome of metastatic cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). A survival analysis across secreted protein‐coding genes revealed a more favorable prognostic effect when combined with fucosyltransferase‐ or sialyltransferase‐coding genes than when evaluated individually.
