The ingestion of nitrogen and solid matter from Vicia faba by Aphis fabae Scop.

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, 1965
SUMMARY Aphis fabae were reared on two varieties of field bean (Vicia faba) on which they differ in fecundity, and the total amounts of solids and nitrogen ingested and assimilated during larval life and during the reproductive and early post‐reproductive life were estimated. Larvae ingested 0·7–0·8mg. solids containing 0·02–0·03mg.

Effects of the green peach and bean aphids on table beet seed plants

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1960
Table beet seed crops are attacked regularly by the green peach aphid—Myzus persicae (Sulz.)—and by the bean aphid—Aphis fabae Scop. No definite knowledge about the kind and amount of damage to the seed crop caused by the aphids is available.
