Mass Spectrometry‐Based Extracellular Vesicle Proteomics for Biomarker Discovery

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Extracellular vesicle (EV) proteomics has emerged as a powerful platform for decoding intercellular communication and advancing biomarker discovery across human diseases. EVs carry proteins that reflect their cells of origin, offering a minimally invasive window into physiological and pathological processes.

Studies on Typhonium (Araceae – Areae) of Thailand VI: Typhonium boonmaesp. nov. from central Thailand

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
A species new to science, Typhonium boonmae K.Z.Hein, P.Saensouk and Saensouk, is described and illustrated from Saraburi and Lop Buri Provinces, central Thailand. A detailed description, color plates, comparisons with similar taxa, phenology, distribution, ecology, and a preliminary conservation status assessment are provided.

Two new endemic species of Portulaca (Portulacaceae) from the Brazilian Pampa grasslands

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Portulaca L. is a monophyletic, cosmopolitan genus of succulent plants comprising ca 153 species, with particularly high diversity in xerophytic ecosystems in tropical and subtropical regions. Based on morphological evidence, we describe and illustrate two new species from the Brazilian Pampa, Portulaca guaritensis and Portulaca guenoa.

Formin homology 2 domain–containing 3 (Fhod3) controls neural plate morphogenesis in mouse cranial neurulation by regulating multidirectional apical constriction [PDF]

open access: yes
Neural tube closure requires apical constriction during which contraction of the apical F-actin network forces the cell into a wedged shape, facilitating the folding of the neural plate into a tube.

Restoration, Not Bypass: Otoferlin Gene Therapy and a New Era in Hearing Loss Treatment

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract The FDA approval of Otarmeni, an AAV‐based gene therapy for biallelic OTOF‐associated sensorineural hearing loss, represents a conceptual shift in otology: from bypassing defective auditory physiology to restoring it. Unlike cochlear implantation, which circumvents damaged sensory structures, OTOF gene replacement targets a synaptic deficit in

Shaping mammalian tissues with light : optogenetic control of apical constriction

open access: yes
During embryonic development, cellular forces synchronize in space and time to generate functional tissue shapes. Apical constriction is a force-generating process necessary to provoke the folding of multiple organ primordia during early development.

Larval antibiosis to cabbage stem flea beetle (Psylliodes chrysocephala) is absent within oilseed rape (Brassica napus)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
We screened a panel of 98 Brassicaceae genotypes (97 Brassica napus and 1 Sinapis alba) for cabbage stem flea beetle (Psylliodes chrysocephala) larval antibiosis. We found limited evidence for antibiosis across B. napus but consistent antibiosis in S. alba. Brassicaceae relatives may therefore better inform resistance traits for breeding.
