Type 2 diabetes is the most common metabolic disorder worldwide. Evidence supports a role for royal jelly (RJ) in reduction of serum glucose and lipids in animals and healthy subjects. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of RJ intake on serum glucose, apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I), apolipoprotein B (ApoB) and ApoB/ApoA-I ratios in ...

The acute-phase protein haptoglobin (Hpt) binds apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I) and impairs its action on lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase, an enzyme that plays a key role in reverse cholesterol transport. We have previously shown that an ApoA-I mimetic peptide, P2a, displaces Hpt from ApoA-I, restoring the enzyme activity in vitro.

Apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I) is a lipoprotein involved in a variety of physiological and pathological processes. However, the immunomodulatory functions of ApoA-I in fish are not well understood. In this study, ApoA-I from Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) (On-ApoA-I) was identified, and its function in bacterial infection was investigated.

Abstract Apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I) is the principal protein component of plasma high-density lipoprotein (HDL). It plays an important role in lipid transport and uptake and has been demonstrated to defend against bacteria in vertebrates. In this report, we identified a cDNA sequence from E.

ABSTRACTApolipoprotein A‐I (ApoA‐I) is the main anti‐atherogenic component of human high‐density lipoproteins (HDL). ApoA‐I gene expression is regulated by several nuclear receptors, which are the sensors for metabolic changes during development of cardiovascular diseases.

Several monoclonal antibodies to human A-I apolipoprotein were produced after immunising mice with pure delipidated apoA-I. These monoclonal antibodies were characterised for their ability to react with whole lipoproteins, apolipoproteins and fragments of apoA-I generated by cleavage with cyanogen bromide. The data suggest that production of monoclonal

Rat intestinal poly(A) RNA was translated in wheat germ and reticulocyte lysate systems in vitro. ApoA-I and apoE were demonstrated to be specific products by immunoprecipitation and fractionation on sodium dodecyl sulfate acrylamide gels. They were identical in size to the respective products from rat liver.

Apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I) is the major lipoprotein component of high-density lipoprotein(HDL), and plays an important role in reverse cholesterol transport. Its function is known to be influenced by oxidation.Using H2O2-or chloramine T-oxidized apoA-I as antigen, we prepared 2 kinds of monoclonal antibodies, and established an ELISA system for the ...

Hypertriglyceridemia is a common pathological condition in humans of mostly unknown etiology. Here we report induction of dyslipidemia characterized by severe hypertriglyceridemia as a result of point mutations in human apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I). Adenovirus-mediated gene transfer in apoA-I-deficient (apoA-I(-)(/)(-)) mice showed that mice expressing ...
