Diacylglycerol oil for apolipoprotein C-II deficiency [PDF]

open access: yesQJM, 2007
Sir, Apolipoprotein C-II is a cofactor of lipoprotein lipase (LPL), which hydrolyses triglycerides of chylomicrons and very low-density lipoproteins (VLDLs).1 We report our therapeutic experience with diacylglycerol (DAG) oil, a natural edible oil, in a patient with apolipoprotein C-II deficiency, a rare, autosomal, recessively-inherited disease.

CX3CL1 in Early Detection of Alzheimer's Disease: Plasma Dynamics Across Age and Disease Stages

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Backgrounds Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by amyloid‐beta plaques, tau tangles, and neuroinflammation. C‐X3‐C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CX3CL1, also known as fractalkine), a neuroimmune chemokine implicated in AD pathogenesis, shows inconsistent alterations in plasma/serum across studies.

TNF receptor–related factor 3 inactivation promotes the development of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma through NF‐κB‐inducing kinase–mediated hepatocyte transdifferentiation

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Background and Aims Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a deadly but poorly understood disease, and its treatment options are very limited. The aim of this study was to identify the molecular drivers of ICC and search for therapeutic targets.

SPG4 and Dementia: Expanding the Clinical Spectrum

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a group of disorders characterized by progressive spasticity and lower limb weakness, with mutations in SPG4/SPAST being the most common cause. Detailed studies and clinical and molecular comparisons across different populations are missing.

Relationship between NAFLD and coronary artery disease: A Mendelian randomization study

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Background and Aims There is an ongoing debate on whether NAFLD is an active contributor or an innocent bystander in the pathogenesis of coronary artery disease (CAD). The aim of the present study was to assess the causal relationship between NAFLD and CAD.

One-step screening method for the polymorphism of apolipoproteins A-I, A-II, and A-IV

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1982
Apolipoprotein A-I exhibits a polymorphism that can be easily investigated in native serum by a simple method involving incubation of serum in the presence of decylsulfate and beta-mercaptoethanol and subsequent isoelectric focusing.

Effect of Apolipoprotein E epsilon 4 on the association between health behaviors and cognitive function in late midlife

open access: yes, 2010
The extent to which the effect of risk factors on cognitive ageing is dependent on APOE epsilon 4 remains unclear. The objective of this study is to examine whether APOE epsilon 4 allele modifies the association between health behaviors and cognition in ...

Dementia Incidence in Individuals With Parkinson's Disease in the Framingham Heart Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Limited information exists on incident dementia in individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD) in US community‐based samples. We examined cognitive statuses and PD diagnoses of 183 individuals in the Framingham Heart Study (FHS) to establish incident dementia, mortality rates, associations with sex, age at PD onset, and education level.

NAFLD‐related hepatocellular carcinoma: The growing challenge

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Risk and protective factors for NAFLD‐related hepatocellular carcinoma Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common cause of cancer‐related mortality and morbidity worldwide. With the obesity pandemic, NAFLD‐related HCC is contributing to the burden of disease exponentially.

A single nucleotide substitution in the promoter region of the apolipoprotein C-II gene identified in individuals with chylomicronemia

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1996
Apolipoprotein (apo) C-II plays a major role as a cofactor for lipoprotein lipase, the enzyme involved in the hydrolysis of triglyceride-rich particles.
