Hepatitis C virus relies on lipoproteins for its life cycle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infects over 150 million people worldwide. In most cases, HCV infection becomes chronic causing liver disease ranging from fibrosis to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma.

Peripheral blood mitochondrial DNA content in relation to circulating metabolites and inflammatory markers: a population study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) content might undergo significant changes caused by metabolic derangements, oxidative stress and inflammation that lead to development and progression of cardiovascular diseases.

Smoking and apolipoprotein levels: A meta-analysis of published data

open access: yesToxicology Reports, 2022
Background: Apolipoproteins are major components of lipoproteins such as high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and very-low-density lipoprotein and are considered nontraditional markers in the risk assessment for cardiovascular disease.

The Carboxyl-Terminal Segment of Apolipoprotein A-V Undergoes a Lipid-Induced Conformational Change [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Apolipoprotein (apo) A-V is a 343-residue, multidomain protein that plays an important role in regulation of plasma triglyceride homeostasis. Primary sequence analysis revealed a unique tetraproline sequence (Pro293-Pro296) near the carboxyl terminus of ...

Diagnostic and pathogenetic significance of apolipoprotein disorders in patients with alcoholic fatty liver [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2017
Background/Aim. Alcohol is the most common cause of fatty liver. Alcohol metabolism takes place in the liver by alcohol dehydrogenase, to toxic acetaldehyde, with fatty acids accumulation in the liver as a consequence.

Influence of different fat emulsions with 10 or 20% MCT/LCT or LCT on lipoproteins in plasma of patients after abdominal surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
In patients after elective abdominal surgery, different fat emulsions were used to compare their efficacy in total parenteral nutrition and in normalizing plasma lipoprotein levels.

Degradation of human apolipoprotein B‐100 by apolipoprotein(a)

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1993
Human plasma low density lipoproteine (LDL) contain a very high molecular weight protein termed apoB‐100 (M r = 550,000). In many samples of LDL, minor components designated as apoB‐74 (M r = 407,000) and apoB‐26 (M r = 145,000) are present. It has been shown that they can arise as a result of proteolytic degradation of apoB‐100.

Apolipoprotein B Is Associated With the Microenvironment of Cholangiocarcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2021
BackgroundCholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a kind of devastating malignancy, which is correlated with the extremely high mortality. Due to the occult pathogenesis of CCA, most patients are diagnosed in the advanced stage. However, the efficacy of chemotherapy and immunotherapy is limited for these patients.

Clinical role of apolipoproteins A and B

open access: yesКардиоваскулярная терапия и профилактика, 2011
The assessment and correction of the traditional parameters of atherogenic dyslipidemia are important, but not exclusive methods in the management of atherosclerosis, including coronary artery atherosclerosis.

Apolipoprotein[a] is not associated with apolipoprotein B in human liver

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1994
The aim of this research was to determine whether apolipoprotein[a] (apo[a]) is linked to apolipoprotein B (apoB) in human liver. Four ELISAs were developed: 1) a competition assay that measures apoB; 2) a competition assay that measures apo[a]; 3) a capture assay based on capture of apo[a] by a polyclonal antibody and detection of co-immobilized apoB ...
