Modeling long-range dependent Gaussian processes with application in continuous-time financial models

open access: yes
This paper considers a class of nonstationary Gaussian processes with possible long-range dependence (LRD) and intermittency. The author proposes a new estimation method to simultaneously estimate both the LRD and intermittency parameter.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

A hybrid modeling framework for quality prediction in sheet hydroforming process: application of regression analysis and machine learning algorithm

open access: yesMachine Learning with Applications
In recent years, the sheet hydroforming process has received widespread attention as one of the new and efficient methods in metal forming. The complexity of material behavior at different temperatures and strain rates has made the need for accurate ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Non-linear predictive control for manufacturing and robotic applications

open access: yes, 2001
The paper discusses predictive control algorithms in the context of applications to robotics and manufacturing systems. Special features of such systems, as compared to traditional process control applications, require that the algorithms are capable of ...

Application of Recurrence Plot Analysis to Examine Dynamics of Biological Molecules on the Example of Aggregation of Seed Mucilage Components

open access: yesEntropy
The goal of the research is to describe the aggregation process inside the mucilage produced by plant seeds using molecular dynamics (MD) combined with time series algorithmic analysis based on the recurrence plots. The studied biological molecules model

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Modeling Disease Progression in the Presence of an Outcome-Dependent Visiting Process with Application to Cystic Fibrosis Clinical Data

open access: yesThe New England Journal of Statistics in Data Science
The timing of longitudinal measurements may depend upon outcome or disease severity. In biomedical studies relying on clinical encounter data, patients often have dense, irregular collections of visit data when suffering a worse health condition. In parallel, the longitudinal measurements may be impacted by the period of irregular visiting.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...
