Parameter optimization for MINFLUX microscopy enabled single particle tracking

open access: yesCommunications Biology
MINFLUX fluorescence microscopy is a recently introduced super-resolution approach for studying cellular structures and their dynamics with highest detail. MINFLUX (MFX) performs Single Particle Tracking (SPT) at runtime. The ad hoc signal interpretation

European Code Against Cancer, 5th edition – hormone replacement therapy, other common medical therapies and cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The 5th edition of the European Code Against Cancer (ECAC5) contains 14 recommendations on cancer prevention. Here, we update the cancer prevention recommendations regarding the use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which is positioned as recommendation number 13 of the ECAC5.

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Critical review of potential technologies for a wearable benzene sensor system

open access: yesSensors and Actuators Reports
We evaluate different methods to detect benzene at a parts-per-billion level regarding their potential to be used in a wearable sensor. Benzene is a carcinogenic molecule, regarded as a major health threat by the World Health Organization.
