Electromechanical Battery EMB Mass Minimization taking into Account its Electrical Machines Rotor Energy

open access: yesElectrical, Control and Communication Engineering, 2014
In this paper the electromechanical battery (EMB) with synchronous machine is described. Theoretically, if electrical machines rotor stored energy is known, it is possible to reduce the flywheel mass of electromechanical battery.

Truthful Mechanisms for Matching and Clustering in an Ordinal World

open access: yes, 2016
We study truthful mechanisms for matching and related problems in a partial information setting, where the agents' true utilities are hidden, and the algorithm only has access to ordinal preference information.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Efficient and Self-Recursive Delay Vandermonde Algorithm for Multi-Beam Antenna Arrays

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Signal Processing, 2020
This paper presents a self-contained factorization for the delay Vandermonde matrix (DVM), which is the super class of the discrete Fourier transform, using sparse and companion matrices. An efficient DVM algorithm is proposed to reduce the complexity of

Approximation Algorithms for the Capacitated Domination Problem

open access: yes, 2010
We consider the {\em Capacitated Domination} problem, which models a service-requirement assignment scenario and is also a generalization of the well-known {\em Dominating Set} problem. In this problem, given a graph with three parameters defined on each

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Set K-Cover Algorithms for Energy Efficient Monitoring in Wireless Sensor Networks

open access: yes, 2003
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are emerging as an effective means for environment monitoring. This paper investigates a strategy for energy efficient monitoring in WSNs that partitions the sensors into covers, and then activates the covers iteratively ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Adding Edges for Maximizing Weighted Reachability

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2020
In this paper, we consider the problem of improving the reachability of a graph. We approach the problem from a graph augmentation perspective, in which a limited set size of edges is added to the graph to increase the overall number of reachable nodes ...

A New Regularity Lemma and Faster Approximation Algorithms for Low Threshold Rank Graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Kolla and Tulsiani [KT07,Kolla11} and Arora, Barak and Steurer [ABS10] introduced the technique of subspace enumeration, which gives approximation algorithms for graph problems such as unique games and small set expansion; the running time of such ...
