Rational approximation to harmonic functions
Numerical Algorithms, 1999This is a very nice paper! The author generalizes the concepts of Padé-type and partial Padé-type approximants to the situation of approximating the Fourier series of a harmonic function. The main feature of this type of approximation is the liberty in prescribing poles for the approximating functions.

Approximation by rational functions
Applicable Analysis, 2008The inverse problem of finding point sources from finite measurements of two-dimensional stationary field leads to the problem of interpolation by rational functions. However, unlike the polynomial interpolation, the system of equations for the polynomial coefficients appearing here is rather difficult to analyse and to solve numerically.

ON THE ORDER OF APPROXIMATION OF CONVEX FUNCTIONS BY RATIONAL FUNCTIONS
Mathematics of the USSR-Izvestiya, 1969We show that for arbitrary convex functions the order of approximation (in the metric C[a, b]) by rational functions of degree no higher than n does not exceed the quantity CMln²n/n (C an absolute constant, M the maximum modulus of the convex function).

ON THE DEGREE OF RATIONAL APPROXIMATION OF MEROMORPHIC FUNCTIONS
Russian Academy of Sciences. Sbornik Mathematics, 1995The main result of this paper is a generalization of the Karlsson inequality relating the best rational approximation of degree \(n\) and the, so-called, order of the approximated meromorphic function. The new inequality depends of the product of all degrees \(1,2,\dots, n\).

ON THE APPROXIMATION OF $ x^\alpha$ BY RATIONAL FUNCTIONS
Mathematics of the USSR-Izvestiya, 1981Weak equivalence type estimates are obtained for the smallest deviation of ( a proper fraction) from the rational functions of degree not greater than in the metrics of . Bibliography: 15 titles.
