Integrated Aquaponic Co-Culture of Nile Tilapia and African Catfish: Effects on Plant Yield, Fish Growth, Nutrient Profile, and Heavy Metal Accumulation. [PDF]

open access: yesFood Sci Nutr
An integrated aquaponic co‐culture system combining Nile tilapia and African catfish with eggplant was evaluated. Tilapia growth was consistent across treatments, while a slight reduction in catfish performance occurred with lower stocking density. Plant yield and nutrient profiles of fish showed no significant differences among treatments.

Aquaponics

open access: yes, 2023
Aquaponics is a sustainable method of food production that combines aquaculture and hydroponics to grow fish and crops without soil. It involves a harmonious cycle between the fish and plants. In this system, fish waste (ammonia) is utilized as a nutrient source for the plants, which act as a bio-filter by absorbing nitrate, a vital component for ...

Aquaponics

open access: yes, 2017
In America, we are seeing a lack of effectiveness with our K-12 schools. This costs the school districts and taxpayers money with very little return guaranteeing an ongoing investment into adulthood. Students finishing high school have very little if any applied learning and technical skills, and still need to accomplish at least four years of college ...
