Enhancement of Morpho‐Physiological, Physiological, and Antioxidant Capacity of Saffron (Crocus sativus L.) Under Water Deficit Using ZnO Nanoparticles and Magnesium Sulfate: Implications for Saffron Yield

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ZnO nanoparticles and MgSO4 synergistically alleviated drought‐induced damage in saffron. Foliar application improved relative water content and antioxidant enzyme activity. Photosynthetic performance and membrane stability were enhanced under water deficit. Moderate drought combined with ZnO‐NPs and MgSO4 maximized saffron productivity. ABSTRACT Water

Yin Yang 1 Specifically Supports the Development of Olig2 Positive Cerebellar Astrocytes

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 8, August 2026.
Cerebellar Olig2 positive astrocytes are most abundant in the cerebellar nuclei. Cerebellar astrocytes expressing Olig2 have unique gene expression profiles. Yin Yang 1 specifically supports the development of astrocytes expressing Olig2. Deletion of YY1 during development increases numbers of astrocytes expressing Olig2 but hinders their ...

Clinical Significance and Changes in Levels of Serum BDNF, mBDNF, AQP4, proBDNF, and GSK3β in Individuals Diagnosed With Bipolar Disorder: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Bipolar disorder (BD) is a severe mood disorder with unclear pathogenesis and limited diagnostic biomarkers. This study aimed to evaluate serum levels of BDNF, mBDNF, AQP4, proBDNF, and GSK3β between BD patients and healthy controls, and to preliminarily explore their potential clinical significance.

Oral Spermidine Supplementation Preserves Submandibular Gland Function After Radiotherapy: Mechanistic Insights and Use in a Phase II Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
Radiotherapy‐induced xerostomia severely impairs quality of life. Integrated multiomics, organoids, murine models, and a randomized Phase II trial identified spermidine as a key radiation‐responsive metabolite. Oral spermidine preserved salivary gland function, maintained acinar cell integrity through Golgi‐mediated posttranslational modifications ...
