Immunoregulation by Aqueous Humor

Cornea, 2000
The eye is a classic example of an immune-privileged site. To investigate the local defense system of the eye, the immunosuppressive effects of the aqueous humor on cytokine production was examined.Using T cell clones (TCCs) established from infiltrating cells in the aqueous humor of patients with human T lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1) uveitis as ...

Aqueous humor formation

Experimental Eye Research, 1973
Abstract The various processes and forces underlying aqueous humor formation have been examined both theoretically, as a problem in terms of membrane behavior, and experimentally, using in vitro and in vivo techniques. Mathematical relationships have been developed for the interrelationship of facility, pseudofacility, capillary pressure, active ...

Aqueous humor catecholamines

Current Eye Research, 1984
The catecholamines norepinephrine, (NE) epinephrine (E) and dopamine (DA) were detected for the first time in the aqueous humor of humans under general anesthesia and monkeys under ketamine. The catecholamine levels in aqueous humor of 9 humans were assayed. NE was 0.796 +/- 0.457 ng./ml., E ranged between 0 and 0.132 ng./ml.

Formation Of The Aqueous Humor

Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, 2000
SUMMARY1. Glaucoma is a worldwide disease affecting approximately 1–2% of the population aged over 35 years in industrial countries and is a major cause of blindness.2. Glaucoma is usually associated with an increased intra‐ocular pressure reflecting an imbalance between the rate of production of fluid (the aqueous humor) by the ciliary epithelial ...

Proteomics of Human Aqueous Humor

OMICS: A Journal of Integrative Biology, 2015
The aqueous humor is a colorless, transparent fluid that fills the anterior chamber of the eye. It plays an important role in maintaining the intraocular pressure and providing nourishment to the lens and cornea. The constitution of the aqueous humor is controlled by the blood-aqueous barrier.

Aqueous Humor: Physiology of the Aqueous Humor

2013
Water represents 70 % of an individual’s body weight and is divided in two compartments, separated by the cell membrane. Inside the cell membrane is the intracellular fluid, corresponding to 50 % of the body weight, and outside it the extracellular fluid, corresponding to the remaining 20 % (in the adult).
