Association between polymorphisms of arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase (ALOX12) and schizophrenia in a Korean population [PDF]

open access: yesBehavioral and Brain Functions, 2010
Arachidonic acid (AA), an essential polyunsaturated fatty acid, is one of the major components of neural membranes, which show an altered phospholipid composition in schizophrenia.

Arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase and 12-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid contribute to stromal aging-induced progression of pancreatic cancer. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Biol Chem, 2020
The incidence of pancreatic cancer increases with age, suggesting that chronological aging is a significant risk factor for this disease. Fibroblasts are the major nonmalignant cell type in the stroma of human pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).

Chilling injury mechanism in the immature oocytes of zebrafish (Danio rerio) [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Reproduction and Development
Immature zebrafish oocytes are sensitive to chilling, and their survival is markedly reduced by exposure to 0°C. In the present study, we investigated the involvement of cold-sensitive channels and lipid mediators in chilling injury in immature zebrafish ...

Immunocytochemical localization of platelet-type arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase in mouse blood cells. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Histochemistry & Cytochemistry, 1995
Arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase is an enzyme that oxygenates the 12 position of arachidonic acid to produce its 12-hydroperoxy derivative. We were interested in the tissue distribution and subcellular localization of the platelet-type 12-lipoxygenase, which is distinguished from the leukocyte type by several criteria.

Immunohistochemical study of arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase in porcine tissues. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Histochemistry & Cytochemistry, 1989
12-Lipoxygenase oxygenates the 12 position of arachidonic acid and produces its 12-hydroperoxy derivative. The enzyme is found in greatest amounts in porcine leukocytes and is distributed widely in various other tissues. An anti-12-lipoxygenase antibody was raised in rabbits with the immunoaffinity-purified enzyme as an antigen and was used in ...

Pla2g7 regulates bone homeostasis via Alox12/12-HETE/Gpr31 signaling axis [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications
Bone homeostasis mainly depends on the equilibrium of osteoclasts and osteoblasts, overactivated osteoclasts play a pivotal role in the progression of osteoporosis. Here, we revealed that Pla2g7 (phospholipase A2 group VII) was positively correlated with

Metabolomics reveals pro-inflammatory effects of 12R-HETE and ALOX12B in maternal allergic asthma [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Approximately 10% of pregnant women worldwide suffer from asthma, significantly increasing risks like preterm birth, low birth weight, and gestational hypertension. Current diagnostic methods are limited in early detection, underscoring the need for more

Structure and chromosomal localization of human arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase gene.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1992
Arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase introduces a molecular oxygen into the C-12 position of arachidonic acid to produce 12(S)-hydroperoxy-5,8,10,14-eicosatetraenoic acid. With the aid of cDNA probes for the enzyme, we isolated overlapping lambda clones encompassing the human 12-lipoxygenase gene and flanking regions from a human genomic library.

The transcriptional regulation of human arachidonate 12‐lipoxygenase gene by NFκB/Rel [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1995
As examined by the luciferase assay, a negative regulatory region including the NFκB motif was found in the 5′‐flanking region of the 12‐lipoxygenase gene in human erythroleukemia cells. The negative control was abolished by a site‐specific mutation of the NFκB motif. Probes including the NFκB region gave positive bands upon a gel‐shift assay.
