This study explores aerosol jet‐printed (AJP) surface roughness, its effects on the performance of microwave electronics, and its process contributors. First, an electromagnetic model is vetted for AJP's unique roughness signature. Simulations are built which show process‐induced roughness is as significant as conductor resistivity in driving microwave

An Architecture for Learning Design Engines
Learning Design (LD 2003) is a declarative language, meaning that it de-scribes what an implementation supporting LD must do. LD does not state how this should be done. Furthermore, LD is an expressive language, which means that it has the ability to express a learning design in a clear, natural, intuitive and concise way, closest to the original ...

Multilayering of TiN film with metallic Ti film is adopted to enhance the fracture resistance of TiN thin films. Plastic dissipation within Ti with process zone size of ≈250 nm, along with elastic–plastic mismatch driven changes to crack driving force enhances the crack growth resistance by ten times, enabling physics informed design of optimized ...

From Nature to Engineering: Mortar Volume and Interfacial Mechanics in Bioinspired Ceramics
Inspired by natural armors like nacre, this study explores how varying the volume fraction of the soft mortar layer impacts the interfacial strength and toughness of bioinspired ceramics. Experimental and computational analysis reveals that higher mortar volumes increase energy dissipation but reduce interfacial stiffness, offering insights for ...

Ca2.5Ag0.3Sm0.2Co4O9 semiconductor materials are synthesized and produced in this study using the sol–gel and cold pressing techniques for thermoelectric generator applications. As template samples are added, the Seebeck coefficient and power factor values rise, peaking at 800 °C for Ca2.5Ag0.3Sm0.2Co4O9 at 274.47 μV K−1 and 0.58 mW mK−2, respectively.

Reverse engineering of distributed system architecture – a case study.
To effectively reason about an existing software system it is often necessary to reverse engineering architectural information about the system from its implemented software artifacts.
