A graphical language for generating architectural forms

Proceedings. 1997 IEEE Symposium on Visual Languages (Cat. No.97TB100180), 2002
We describe a collaborative research effort between the faculties of computer science and architecture, investigating a special purpose visual language to be used to generate architectural forms. This language forms part of a larger system intended to automate the process of generating architecturally designed houses.

An Architecture for Knowledge-Based Graphical Interfaces

ACM SIGCHI Bulletin, 1988
The construction of intelligent interfaces can be greatly facilitated by classifying the information that users and programs communicate, and by separating the user interface from the functionality of a program. This paper presents a scheme for classifying this information, and show how, by structuring the interface around this scheme, the user ...

Computer Graphics in Architecture

1971
In using the computer to assist in scientific or semi-scientific endeavors, there has been a tendency to mold the problem to be solved to the techniques, rather than to mold the techniques to the problem. For example, it is possible to draw high precision perspective views of a building using a very expensive mechanical plotter.

Dynamic RAM architectures for graphics applications

Proceedings of the May 16-19, 1983, national computer conference on - AFIPS '83, 1983
This paper explores the requirements for future graphics memories and analyzes the requirements for two of the biggest problems in graphics terminal design, raster display bandwidth and random-bit update performance. To solve these problems a new access mode for dynamic RAMs called Ripplemodeā„¢ will be proposed.

Developing the GX graphics accelerator architecture

IEEE Micro, 1990
A novel approach to acceleration is described whereby high-level graphics on entry-level workstations has become practical. In the GX, the host CPU functions as the intelligent controller and two large ASICs (application-specific ICs) supply hardwired graphics functions. An arbitrary quadrilateral is the GX's only geometric primitive.

Mental Imagery in a Graphical Cognitive Architecture

2011
Can mental imagery be incorporated uniformly into a cognitive architecture by leveraging the mixed (relational and probabilistic) hybrid (discrete and continuous) processing supported by factor graphs? This article takes an initial step towards answering this question via an implementation in a graphical cognitive architecture of a version of the Eight
