Effects of arcing due to spacecraft charging on spacecraft survival [PDF]

open access: yes
A quantitative assessment of the hazard associated with spacecraft charging and arcing on spacecraft systems is presented. A literature survey on arc discharge thresholds and characteristics was done and gaps in the data and requirements for additional ...

Time domain analysis of switching transient fields in high voltage substations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Switching operations of circuit breakers and disconnect switches generate transient currents propagating along the substation busbars. At the moment of switching, the busbars temporarily acts as antennae radiating transient electromagnetic fields within ...

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Analysis of the Influence of Arc Contact Ablation and Arcing Time on the Gas Flow Characteristics of SF6 Circuit Breakers

open access: yesInternational Transactions on Electrical Energy Systems
High-current interruptions aggravate arc contact ablation, and arcing time strongly influences the gas-blast capability of self-energy SF6 circuit breakers.

Analysis of Arc Re-Ignition in Vacuum Interrupter-Based HVdc Circuit Breakers

open access: yesIEEE Access
The protection of HVdc systems has long been challenged by the absence of natural current zero-crossing, typically addressed using L-C branches. However, the phenomenon of multiple arc reignitions in vacuum interrupter (VI) based HVdc circuit breakers ...

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries
