Establishing a compartment fire's area of origin when it has been burning at post-flashover conditions is a difficult process. Burn patterns traditionally used by fire investigators following post-flashover fires can be erroneous.

This paper presents a novel approach to reducing oxide layers on metal powders using low‐temperature hydrogen dielectric barrier discharge plasmas at atmospheric pressure. Unlike conventional hydrogen‐plasma reductions, the powders do not contact the plasma directly.

Cladding is a proven method that boosts the surface qualities of mechanical parts by applying a layer of more durable material over a base substrate. This work responds to the needs of offshore and pressure vessels sectors by focusing on cladding a super austenitic steel onto low‐carbon steel through gas tungsten arc welding.

Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the

Self-protected electrodes limit field-emission current [PDF]
One cathode includes array of square-shaped conductor columns. Columns are electrically interconnected by conducting plate on bottom. Each column provides field-emission current. Another cathode includes array of rodlike conductors.

The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

This is a very useful survey (without many proofs) on what is known about the maximum size \(m(r,q)\) of an \(n\)-arc in \(\text{PG}(r,q)\) and the size \(m'(r,q)\) of the second largest complete arc in \(\text{PG}(r,q)\). The connection of \(n\)-arcs in the projective space \(\text{PG}(r,q)\) (that is, a set of \(n\) points no \(r+1\) of which are ...
