Taking stock of arctic sea ice and climate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The relationship among the cause-and-effect of the Arctic atmosphere, sea ice, and ocean is discussed. The increased vulnerability of the Arctic system to anomalous atmospheric forcing can be argued from the perspective that recent ice loss is the result

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

New Exoplanet Surveys in the Canadian High Arctic at 80 Degrees North [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Observations from near the Eureka station on Ellesmere Island, in the Canadian High Arctic at 80 degrees North, benefit from 24-hour darkness combined with dark skies and long cloud-free periods during the winter. Our first astronomical surveys conducted at the site are aimed at transiting exoplanets; compared to mid-latitude sites, the continuous ...

A Review of Foreign Arctic Research Based on ScienceDirect Database (2007—2021)

open access: yesHaiyang Kaifa yu guanli, 2023
With the increasing melting of Arctic sea ice, the importance of studying Arctic issues is becoming more and more prominent. By using ScienceDirect database as the main search scope, the authors systematically combed foreign literature on Arctic issues ...

Influence of Atlantic on the warming and reduction of sea ice in the Arctic

open access: yesЛëд и снег, 2017
Influence of anomalies of the sea surface temperature (SST) in low latitudes of the North Atlantic on the sea ice cover and the near-surface air temperature in the marine Arctic is discussed in the article.

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

The Arctic Expedition [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1875
THE absence of sunlight during the Arctic winter is said to have an injurious effect on the health of both men and dogs; yet it does not appear that the best substitute for solar light has ever been employed for illuminating purposes during the dark season.

Expression and purification of E140 protein antigen fragments of Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium berghei for serological assays

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We provide a step‐by‐step guide for producing E140 antigen fragments from Plasmodium berghei (Pb1) and Plasmodium vivax (Pv1). Pb1/Pv1 are expressed in E. coli, solubilized by freeze–thawing, refolded by slow dilution, purified by affinity chromatography (IMAC), then concentrated and subjected to quality control.
