Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Characterizing Day 1 Area Under the Curve Following Vancomycin Loading Dose Administration in Adult Hospitalized Patients Using Non-Trapezoidal Linear Pharmacokinetic Equations: A Retrospective Observational Study

open access: yesInfectious Diseases and Therapy
Introduction Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections are a serious threat to public health. Vancomycin (VAN) remains the primary treatment for these infections, and achieving the recommended area under the curve (AUC) target has ...

Habitat models to predict wetland bird occupancy influenced by scale, anthropogenic disturbance, and imperfect detection

open access: yesEcosphere, 2017
Understanding species–habitat relationships for endangered species is critical for their conservation. However, many studies have limited value for conservation because they fail to account for habitat associations at multiple spatial scales ...

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

A Prospective Study of Individuals at Risk of Multiple Sclerosis Informs the Design of Primary Prevention Studies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective In multiple sclerosis, the optimal time for deploying a therapeutic intervention is before the central nervous system is damaged; given the success of trials treating the earliest stage of MS, the radiologically isolated syndrome, developing primary prevention strategies is an important next challenge.

Evaluation of Performance of the Truncated Area Under Curve (AUC) as a Primary Pharmacokinetic Parameter in Bioequivalence Studies

open access: yesJournal of Bioequivalence & Bioavailability, 2010
Background and Objective: Prolonged pharmacokinetic sampling is a challenge for successful conduction of the bioequivalence studies for drugs having long elimination half-lives. The regulatory authorities have recommended an alternative to consider the partial AUC (AUC0-72) for studying bioequivalence.

Location‐Specific Hematoma Volume Predicts Early Neurological Deterioration in Supratentorial ICH

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Early neurological deterioration (END) adversely affects outcomes in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). This study aimed to determine the location‐specific hematoma volumes for END in supratentorial ICH patients. Methods We retrospectively analyzed supratentorial ICH patients presenting from two prospective cohorts.

Correlation analysis of pharmacokinetic parameters of docetaxel AUC and adverse reactions in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
BackgroundDocetaxel is commonly used in breast cancer chemotherapy. The previous drug dose is generally calculated based on body surface area (BSA). However, the metabolism varies greatly among different patients.
