Sex‐Specific Regulation of Glycemic Homeostasis by Theabrownin from Pu‐erh Tea

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pu‐erh tea's key component, theabrownin (TB), lowers blood glucose in a sex‐specific manner. In females, estrogen boosts intestinal MUC2 production, which dramatically enhances TB's ability to inhibit the carbohydrate‐digesting enzyme α‐glucosidase.

Exploring grapevine canopy management: effects of removing main leaves or lateral shoots before flowering

open access: yesOENO One
Over the course of a six-year trial, we investigated the physiological response of the Swiss white cultivar Vitis vinifera Petite Arvine, rich in varietal thiols, to the following canopy removal treatments from the cluster area, i.e. from the shoot base

Sesame cake fertilizer improves tobacco aroma quality by boosting root growth and leaf aroma precursor formation

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Weak flavor in flue-cured tobacco compromises quality, making aroma enhancement crucial. Sesame cake fertilizer (SF) has the potential for improving tobacco aroma, but its effects on aroma components and mechanism remain unclear. Here, a four-year field experiment was conducted in Southern tobacco region of China to compare SF with conventional ...

Mitochondria and Neuromast Tagging With Fluorescent Gallium‐Triapine Analogues: In Cellulo MP FLIM and Zebrafish Live Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fluorescent BODIPY‐conjugated thiosemicarbazone ligands and their Ga(III), In(III), and Fe(III) complexes, inspired by Triapine, are developed as theranostic agents. Multiphoton FLIM and confocal microscopy in cancer cells and zebrafish reveal real‐time uptake, mitochondrial localisation, and whilst spectroscopic assays indicated preserved complex ...

Optimizing commercial Arabica coffee quality by integrating flavor precursors with anaerobic germination strategy

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X
This study attempted to improve commercial Arabica coffee quality by integrating flavor precursors with anaerobic germination. Using raw coffee beans as materials, anaerobic germination was conducted with 5 g/100 g of flavor precursors (sucrose, glucose,

Profiling of grape monoterpene glycosides (aroma precursors) by ultra-high performance-liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC/QTOF)

open access: yes, 2014
A suspect screening analysis' method for grape metabolomics by ultra-high performance-liquid chromatography (UHPLC) and high-resolution quadrupole-time of flight (QTOF) mass spectrometry was recently developed.

Frustrated Lewis Pairs and Metallic Ni Synergistically Enabled Low‐Temperature Hydrogenolysis of Lignin Models

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nickel–aluminum composite oxide (NiAlOx‐300) derived from NiAl layered double hydroxide showed high activity for hydrogenolysis of various lignin models. Especially, hydrogenolysis of benzyl phenyl ether could be efficiently proceeded at 20°C and 1 MPa H2.

Printable Conductive Hydrogels for Electrochemical Biosensing and Soft Bioelectronic Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Flexible, conductive hydrogels that integrate printability, mechanical tunability, biocompatibility, and electronic performance remain challenging to achieve. Here, we develop 3D‐printable poly(ethylene glycol)–poly(pyrrole)‐ hydrogels with tissue‐like mechanics, high cytocompatibility, and robust electrochemical function.

Polar Lattice‐Distorted Motifs Enable Synergy of Local Polarization/Dipole Fields for Concurrent Glyphosate Wastewater Remediation and CO Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photocatalytic treatment of glyphosate herbicide in agricultural wastewater is achieved through the cooperative effect of the local polarization field and dipole field mediated by lattice‐distorted carbon nitride. Glyphosate is completely degraded via selective C─P bond cleavage with a CO evolution rate of 1166 µmol g−1 h−1.

Aroma precursors of grapes: contribution of variety and vineyard traning system to port wine aroma

open access: yes, 2011
In order to evaluate the influence of the vine training system in the composition in terpenes, norisoprenoids and their precursors (carotenoids and glycosidic molecules), these compounds were quantified in grapes and Port wines belonging to two varieties: Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca from Douro Region.
