Turning Unpredictable Biomolecule Adsorption to Controlled Corona Formation: Focus on Carbon Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the protein corona formation onto carbon nanomaterials (CNMs) enhances their functionalities as platforms for cancer theranostics. Here, we reviewed the effects of the intrinsic and acquired properties of CNMs on protein corona formation, the consequent biological and toxicological outcomes, and the strategies to reshape corona formation ...

Increasing grapevine canopy height to compensate for pre-flowering basal leaf removal

open access: yesIVES Technical Reviews
Yield loss following intensive pre-flowering leaf removal (LR) can be up to 40-50 % of initial potential. A study conducted by Agroscope on the white grapevine Petite Arvine evaluated the effects of higher hedge trimming to compensate for leaf area ...

Activating a Metallization Switch for Record Hydrogen Evolution in Single‐Atom Modified Polar MOF Piezocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Piezocatalytic hydrogen evolution enables the conversion of mechanical energy into chemical fuels, but its efficiency is constrained by a trade‐off between piezoelectric polarization and electronic conductivity. Strong piezoelectric polarization is essential for sufficient driving force, yet highly polar materials typically suffer from poor ...

Next Generation of Plant-Based Scrambled Eggs: From Decoding Precursor Gaps to Prototype Development

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Plant-based egg analogs often fail to develop characteristic egg aroma, which limits their sensory acceptance. While the pronounced differences in key aroma compounds between chicken egg and vegan egg products have been identified, the precursor-driven ...

A Mechanistic Study of Bio‐Based Nanotemplated Carbon Nanofibers Derived From Water Processable Lignin Blends for Sustainable Energy Storage Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
As‐spun carbon materials produced from Lignosulfonate, gelatin, and alginate, selected for water solubility, and ability to produce templated sustainable carbon nanostructures. Gelatin and alginate are sacrificial during thermal processing, allowing the production of engineered high surface area nanostructures, which are further characterized for ...

Relationship of Dye Adsorption Onto Biomass Activated Carbon Mixed Matrix Ultrafiltration: A Mass Transfer Model Study

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study explored dye molecule adsorption from water, focusing on activated carbon in polymer membranes for purifying low‐quality water. Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes showed enhanced removal efficiency of methylene blue (MB) from 89.29% to 98.33% with biomass‐activated carbon (BAC).

Powder‐to‐Film Conversion of Nickel Single‐Atom Catalysts into Binder‐Free and Resistant Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A reproducible strategy is reported for fabricating standalone thin‐film electrodes composed of CNx‐supported Ni single‐atom catalysts. The resulting binder‐free electrodes exhibit robust stability, enhanced charge transfer, and superior electrochemical performance, offering scalable opportunities for applications in electrochemistry. ABSTRACT Although
