A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Studies of in-service and laboratory failures of metal-oxide distribution surge arresters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We describe the findings from tests and inspections of arresters withdrawn from service, the results of laboratory studies with multipulse lightning currents and high temporary over-voltages, and comparisons of in-service and laboratory failure modes. We

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Development of online monitor for substation 10 kV MOA

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
Metal oxide arresters (MOA) are widely used for over-voltage protection of power facilities in 10 kV distribution networks, and it is hard to determine the failure ones. This study presented an online monitor for 10 kV MOA used in substation.

Selection and coordination of surge arresters for switching transient mitigation in photovoltaic power plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
: Photovoltaic energy generation has become a popular renewable alternative to conventional energy generation that utilise fossil fuels. However, given the diversity and complexity of these PV plants, it is imperative that such plant equipment be ...

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Study on the lightning overvoltage protection of a 500 kV unified power flow controller station

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2018
The unified power flow controller (UPFC) is the third generation of flexible AC transmission systems. It can control the power flow and voltage of the power system quickly and flexibly that has an advantage in compensating the AC transmission system in ...

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Characteristics of Overvoltage Protection with Cascade Application of Surge Protective Devices in Low-Voltage AC Power Circuits

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2015
Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) are widely used for protection of the equipment in low-voltage AC power circuits against wide variety of surges. Cascade application of SPDs starting at the service entrance of a building and downstream toward near ...
