Degradation Behaviour of Arrowroot Fibre (Maranta Arundinacea) Reinforced Arrowroot Starch Biocomposite Films

Journal of Research in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2022
This research is being driven by environmental legislation that requires the consumption and usage of environmentally friendly products. The focus of this research is to develop and characterize thermoplastic arrowroot starch (TPAS) based biocomposite films incorporating arrowroot fibre (AF) at various compositions (0–10 wt.%) using the solution ...

Arrowroot Leaf-Roller - a serious pest of Arrowroot in St. Vincent

1987
In St. Vincent, arrowroot leaf-roller Calpodes ethlius (Cramer) is the major pest of arrowroot (Haranta arundinacea), and causes a reduction in the starch yield of the rhizomes. During the period 1982' - 1984, it was found that the pest was more numerous between July and November, the infestation was slightly lower in the North of Dry River and the two

Physical and Functional Properties of Arrowroot Starch Extrudates

Journal of Food Science, 2009
ABSTRACT:  Arrowroot starch, a commercially underexploited tuber starch but having potential digestive and medicinal properties, has been subjected to extrusion cooking using a single screw food extruder. Different levels of feed moisture (12%, 14%, and 16%) and extrusion temperatures (140, 150, 160, 170, 180 ...

Physicochemical Characterization of Arrowroot Starch ( Maranta arundinacea Linn) and Glycerol/Arrowroot Starch Membranes

International Journal of Food Engineering, 2014
Abstract In the current work, physicochemical properties of arrowroot starch and thermal properties of glycerol/arrowroot starch membranes were investigated. Arrowroot starch exhibited high purity (starch content >99%) with amylose content >40% and granule size dispersion between 29 and 126 μm.
