Bioassay of the estuary waters of the Chernaya River (Bay of Sevastopol, Black Sea) using the brine shrimp Artemia (Crustacea: Brachiopoda)

open access: yesТрансформация экосистем, 2019
The area of Sevastopol Bay is a heterogeneous system, with the estuary of the Chernaya River in the apical part. To assess the ecological status of various parts of the bay and estuary in the summer season of 2018, we determined the oxygen content ...

ARTEMIA BIOENCAPSULATION I. EFFECT OF PARTICLE SIZES ON THE FILTERING BEHAVIOR OF ARTEMIA FRANCISCANA [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Crustacean Biology, 2001
Abstract Artemia is not believed to be a selective filter-feeding organism; however, evidence of an influence of the size of the nutrient particles on the filtration process of this crustacean is presented. To evaluate the influence of the size of food on the filtration process, assays with latex particles and with starch granules were made. A relation

Axial muscle‐fibre orientations in larval zebrafish

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 246, Issue 4, Page 517-533, April 2025.
In 4 days post‐fertilization zebrafish larvae, the fast axial muscle fibres follow helical trajectories that taper towards the tail. Adjacent muscle fibres form substantial angles relative to each other to accommodate this pattern. Using a novel semi‐automatic method, we quantified 3D fibre angles over the whole muscle volume.

Influência de duas dietas na qualidade da água dos tanquesberçário, utilizados no cultivo do camarão marinho Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone, 1931)

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Animal Sciences, 2006
Cultivos experimentais com pós-larvas do Litopenaeus vannamei, na fase de berçário, foram realizados em uma fazenda de camarão, objetivando avaliar a influência da utilização de duas dietas na qualidade físico-química das águas residuais. As dietas foram

Propagation method and species drive survival patterns across reef zones in coral seeding on the Great Barrier Reef

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Coral reef restoration increasingly relies on scalable methods, yet outcomes vary across species, propagation techniques, and habitats. Coral seeding, where coral propagules are settled on deployment units before outplanting, provides a flexible approach that accommodates both asexual (e.g. microfragments) and sexual (e.g.

Mathematical model of the zebrafish ventricular cardiomyocyte action potential and calcium transient

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend This study presents the development and validation of the first biophysically detailed computational model of the zebrafish ventricular action potential (AP). The model is based on a human cardiomyocyte framework and reparameterized using published and newly generated patch‐clamp recordings of zebrafish ionic currents.
