Upadacitinib sustained-release tablets for the treatment of chronic refractory gouty arthritis: a case report and literature review

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
BackgroundGouty arthritis (GA) is a crystal-related joint disease caused by the deposition of monosodium urate (MSU) crystals, directly associated with hyperuricemia resulting from purine metabolism disorder and/or reduced uric acid excretion.

The Omnicausal Model Reveals the Highly Polyfactorial Nature of Complex Diseases

open access: yesGenetic Epidemiology, Volume 50, Issue 6, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Mendelian randomization (MR) is a human genetics method for inferring causal relationships between risk factors and diseases. A common focus of MR studies has been on the causal inference of a single risk factor on a single disease. This has led to the successful discovery of numerous causal risk factors for disease.

Cushioned Insoles for First Metatarsophalangeal Joint Osteoarthritis: Protocol for the SOLE Randomised Controlled Trial

open access: yesJournal of Foot and Ankle Research, Volume 19, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction First metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint osteoarthritis (OA) is a common and disabling condition that causes substantial pain and impairs quality of life. Cushioned insoles have the potential to lower plantar pressures beneath the hallux and possibly reduce pain, but their clinical effectiveness has not been investigated.

[Nimesil treatment of gouty arthritis].

open access: yesTerapevticheskii arkhiv, 2003
To evaluate efficacy and safety of nimesil, a selective inhibitor of cyclooxigenase-2, in gouty arthritis (GA).Nimesil was given to 20 male patients with GA (mean age 53.8 years, mean duration of the disease 8.1 years) in a dose 100 mg twice a day for 14 or 21 days depending on positive clinical changes (13 and 6 patients, respectively).

When Joint Aspiration Fails: Point‐of‐Care Ultrasound for Diagnosing Chronic Gout in Prolonged Monoarthritis

open access: yesJournal of General and Family Medicine, Volume 27, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background A 34‐year‐old man presented to our primary care clinic with persistent pain and swelling of the right first metatarsophalangeal joint lasting 3 months. A previous clinic had suspected gout based on hyperuricemia, but urate‐lowering therapy was repeatedly withheld because of ongoing inflammation, resulting in prolonged symptoms ...

Alterations in articular cartilage frictional properties in the setting of acute gouty arthritis.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
The tribological behaviour of articular cartilage plays a key role in joint motion; however, there is a gap in research on the effect of hyperuricemic joint fluid on cartilage friction behaviour in acute gouty arthritis.

Cell-based in vitro hemoassay for evaluation of NLRP3-inflammasome activity

open access: yesМедицинская иммунология
Currently, gouty arthritis is considered as a polygenic multifactorial autoinflammatory disease caused by activation of the NOD (nucleotide-binding domain) -like protein receptor 3 inflammasome NLRP3.

Treat to target in gouty arthritis [PDF]

open access: yesVnitřní lékařství, 2018
Gout is a crystal-induced, metabolically determined inflammatory rheumatic disease with increasing prevalence. In clinical practice, gout causes frequent diagnostic as well as therapeutic problems. The golden diagnostic standard is crystalographic analysis and evidence of monosodium urate crystals in the polarization microscope; if this is not ...

Intelligent design of artificial biocatalyst for biomedical diseases

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Medicine, Volume 3, Issue 3, Page 220-249, September 2026.
This review summarizes recent advances in the intelligent design of artificial biocatalysts for biomedical diseases. By leveraging tailored design strategies, including environment‐responsive engineering and rational/artificial intelligence‐aided optimization, these biocatalysts enable precise modulation of pathological microenvironments and targeted ...
