Deep Learning Models to Automate the Scoring of Hand Radiographs for Rheumatoid Arthritis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The van der Heijde modification of the Sharp (SvdH) score is a widely used radiographic scoring method to quantify damage in Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) in clinical trials. However, its complexity with a necessity to score each individual joint, and the expertise required limit its application in clinical practice, especially in disease progression ...

YC‐4‐3, a Novel Glycogen Synthase Kinase 3β Inhibitor, Alleviates the Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress of Macrophages in Primary Immune Thrombocytopenia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A patented GSK‐3β inhibitor (GSK‐3βi), new benzothiazepinone compounds (BTZs), YC‐4‐3, can modulate the inflammatory status of macrophages in primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), and improve the thrombocytopenia in murine ITP models by directly interacting with endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response.

Right Prediction, Wrong Reasoning: Uncovering LLM Misalignment in RA Disease Diagnosis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Large language models (LLMs) offer a promising pre-screening tool, improving early disease detection and providing enhanced healthcare access for underprivileged communities. The early diagnosis of various diseases continues to be a significant challenge in healthcare, primarily due to the nonspecific nature of early symptoms, the shortage of expert ...

LIPUS Promotes Calcium Oscillation and Enhances Calcium Dependent Autophagy of Chondrocytes to Alleviate Osteoarthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A non‐invasive and safe physical therapy, low‐intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) can alleviate osteoarthritis. This study dynamically “visualizes” the invisible mechanical stimuli of LIPUS on living chondrocytes by fluorescence imaging technology in the form of calcium oscillations, confirming LIPUS maintains cartilage homeostasis by promoting ...

CXCL13 Damages Blood Spinal Cord Barrier by Promoting RNF6/Sqstm1‐Ubiquitination Induced Autophagy in Experimental Allergic Encephalomyelitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In multiple sclerosis, the disruption of the blood‐spinal cord barrier (BSCB) induced by CXCL13 facilitates the infiltration of inflammatory cells into the central nervous system, resulting in demyelination and neuronal injury. Mechanistically, the deleterious impact of CXCL13 on the BSCB is associated with a reduction in tight junction protein ...

Enhancing Grasping Function with a Thermoresponsive Ionogel Adhesive Glove for Patients with Rheumatic Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel portable grasp‐assist glove, weighing only 47 g. The glove integrates smart adhesive pads and a hands‐free control interface based on IMU, designed to aid rheumatic patients with impaired hand function. The system enables switchable adhesion with independent control and detection of user release intent.

Single‐Cell Analysis Clarifies Pathological Heterogeneity in Tenosynovial Giant Cell Tumor and Identifies Biomarkers for Predicting Disease Recurrence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
MP3 tumor cells, a specific subpopulation of tumor cells in D‐TGCT, regulated the differentiation of CD34+ Fbs into MMP3+ Fbs and APOE+ Fbs through COL6A3 − (ITGAV + ITGB8) interaction. APOE+ Fbs activated IL‐1B+CCL20+ Mφs through the CXCL12/CXCR4 axis. IL‐1B+CCL20+ Mφs and MMP3+ Fbs participated in the local invasion of D‐TGCT.

Mechanisms of Baicalin Alleviates Intestinal Inflammation: Role of M1 Macrophage Polarization and Lactobacillus amylovorus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Baicalin alleviates E. coli‐induced intestinal inflammation through dual mechanisms: direct inhibition of the TLR4/IRF/STAT signaling pathway to modulate macrophage polarization and antigen presentation, thereby regulating Th17/Treg cell differentiation; and microbiota‐mediated indirect effects via increasing Lactobacillus amylovorus abundance and ...
