A Pre-Grasping Motion Planning Method Based on Improved Artificial Potential Field for Continuum Robots

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Secure and reliable active debris removal methods are crucial for maintaining the stability of the space environment. Continuum robots, with their hyper-redundant degrees of freedom, offer the ability to capture targets of varying sizes and shapes ...

An emergent wall following behaviour to escape local minima for swarms of agents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Natural examples of emergent behaviour, in groups due to interactions among the group's individuals, are numerous. Our aim, in this paper, is to use complex emergent behaviour among agents that interact via pair-wise attractive and repulsive potentials ...

Topology and shape optimization of induced-charge electro-osmotic micropumps [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
For a dielectric solid surrounded by an electrolyte and positioned inside an externally biased parallel-plate capacitor, we study numerically how the resulting induced-charge electro-osmotic (ICEO) flow depends on the topology and shape of the dielectric

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Improved artificial potential field method based on robot local path information

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems
The artificial potential field (APF) is an important method for robot path planning. However, some information in APF is not fully utilized in practical applications.

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

Application research on improved artificial potential field method in three-dimensional path planning for UAV formation

open access: yesHangkong gongcheng jinzhan
Rational path planning becomes particularly crucial when unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)formations interact with complex real-world environments. The artificial potential field method exists some drawbacks, such as unreachable target points and local ...

Theory of a two-level artificial molecule in laterally coupled quantum Hall droplets

open access: yes, 2006
We present a theory of laterally coupled quantum Hall droplets with electron numbers (N1,N2) at filling factor $\nu=2$. We show that the edge states of each droplet are tunnel coupled and form a two-level artificial molecule.
