Crucial Roles of Brassinosteroids in Cell Wall Composition and Structure Across Species: New Insights and Biotechnological Applications

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 48, Issue 3, Page 1751-1767, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Brassinosteroids (BR) are steroidal phytohormones essential for plant growth, development, and stress resistance. They fulfil this role partially by modulating cell wall structure and composition through the control of gene expression involved in primary and secondary cell wall biosynthesis and metabolism.

Phytochemical Profile and Evaluation of the Antioxidant, Anticancer, and Antimicrobial Potential of Artocarpus lacucha Bark Extracts: In Vitro and In Silico Studies

open access: yesJournal of Food Biochemistry, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Artocarpus lacucha Roxb., traditionally used in ethnomedicine, was investigated for its pharmacological potential through a multimethodological approach. The ethyl acetate fraction (EAF) and chloroform fraction (CHF) of bark extracts were analyzed for antioxidant, anticancer, and antimicrobial properties. HPLC identified key polyphenols (e.g., catechin

Widespread introduced species dominate the urban tree assemblage on the endemic‐rich tropical island of São Tomé

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2024.
Afrotropical cities are growing rapidly but how this impacts biodiversity is largely unclear. Our study on São Tomé Island, Central Africa, reveals that the urban tree assemblage is impoverished and dominated by introduced species, while the natural forest is essential for the protection of native and endemic species.
