Australasian Plant Pathology, 2003Ascospores of Didymella rabiei were trapped from chickpea stubble containing naturally occurring pseudothecia. Ascospores produced typical Ascochyta rabiei cultures on potato-dextrose agar plus gentamicin. Ascochyta blight developed on chickpea plants inoculated with conidia derived from single-ascospore cultures.

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2001Genetic diversity in Ascochyta rabiei (Pass.) Labr., the causative agent of ascochyta blight of chickpea, was determined using 37 Indian, five American (USA), three Syrian, and two Pakistani isolates. A total of 48 polymorphic RAPD markers were scored for each isolate and the data used for cluster analysis.
