Feeding with tannin‐rich diets altered the fecal microbial composition and increased the relative abundance of tannin‐degrading microbes. We hypothesize that fecal bacteria and fungi may play important roles in helping herbivores adapt to tannin‐rich diets but respond to different tannin concentrations varies.

Abstract DNA barcoding and metabarcoding have emerged as cost‐efficient, standardized methods for characterizing local biodiversity. Based on the sequencing of a small targeted gene fragment, it is theoretically possible to identify a wide diversity of taxa by comparing them with reference sequence databases.

Categorization of Orthologous Gene Clusters in 92 ascomycota Genomes Reveals Functions Important For Fungal Phytopathogenicity [PDF]
Ascomycota fungi are mostly saprophytic in nature, living off dead or decaying matter. However, a small subset of these fungi possess the ability to infect live hosts and cause disease while obtaining nutrients. Phytopathogenic Ascomycota are responsible

Ecological and genomic variation in ectomycorrhizal fungal exploration types
Summary Ectomycorrhizal fungi (EMF) produce mycelia with variable extension and complexity, which can be classified according to soil ‘exploration types’ (ETs). ETs have received attention as one of the few mycorrhizal trait frameworks, but without an empirical classification of ET functional diversity and environmental preferences, understanding and ...
