Intracellular hydrolases of Aspergillus, parasiticus and Aspergillus, flavus

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1989
When the distribution profile of hydrolases in mycelial homogenates and culture filtrates of A. parasiticus and A. flavus was examined, six hydrolytic enzymes viz. N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, aryl sulfatase, alkaline proteinase, cathepsin B, cathepsin D and aminopeptidase were detected in homogenate. The culture filtrates were devoid of any activity

Isolation of aminopeptidase from Aspergillus flavus

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure, 1976
A mixture of aminopeptidase and neutral protease from the Aspergillus flavus mold obtained by chromatography on DEAE-Sephadex was fractionated by chromatography on the hydroxyalkyl methacrylate gel with chemically bonded 1,6 hexamethylene diamine and D-leucine. Aminopeptidase thus obtained was electrophoretically homogeneous.

Aspergillus flavus sinusitis in ALL

American Journal of Hematology, 2008
A 17-year-old girl with ALL developed acute onset left eye swelling and facial pain on day 23 of phase II of the UKALL XII protocol. She had been neutropaenic for 14 days at this time. She had neutropenic fever since day 17 with no obvious cause for this identified up to the time facial swelling appeared. This occurred despite broad-spectrum antibiotic

Endocarditis due to Aspergillus flavus

Mycoses, 1997
Summary. Fungal endocarditis has emerged as an important complication of patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery. Our patient had no past history of cardiac surgery, intravenous drug abuse or immunosuppressive therapy. He had received broad‐spectrum antibiotics for varying periods, which might have predisposed him to this infection.

Renal Aspergilloma Due to Aspergillus flavus

Clinical Infectious Diseases, 1995
Renal aspergillomas have been reported only rarely. We report a case of Aspergillus flavus colonization of the renal pelvis and upper ureter of a patient with concomitant urinary schistosomiasis. The diagnosis was based on the demonstration of characteristic hyphal elements on direct microscopy and isolation of the fungus in culture.

Communicating Hydrocephalus Caused by Aspergillus flavus

Southern Medical Journal, 1980
A patient with a past history of sporadic parenteral drug abuse had communicating hydrocephalus associated with arachnoiditis over the lumbar spinal cord. The diagnosis of aspergillosis was made by a newly described immunofluorescent staining procedure and was later confirmed by culture.

Aspergillus flavus keratitis.

Annals of ophthalmology, 1978
Corneal infection due to the species Aspergillus flavus is rare and often destructive. This report describes a case of Aspergillus flavus corneal ulcer that failed to respond to amphotericin B, pimaricin, and clotrimazole. The eye subsequently became phthisical.

Sexual reproduction inAspergillus flavus

Mycologia, 2009
Aspergillus flavus is the major producer of carcinogenic aflatoxins in crops worldwide and is also an important opportunistic human pathogen in aspergillosis. The sexual state of this heterothallic fungus is described from crosses between strains of the opposite mating type.
