Interactions between Aspergillus fumigatus and Pulmonary Bacteria: Current State of the Field, New Data, and Future Perspective

open access: yesJournal of Fungi, 2019
Aspergillus fumigatus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa are central fungal and bacterial members of the pulmonary microbiota. The interactions between A. fumigatus and P. aeruginosa have only just begun to be explored.

Modular, Tricomponent, and Concurrent One‐Pot Synthesis of Libraries of γ‐Keto Sulfones and γ‐Keto Phosphine Oxides using Brønsted Acidic Eutectic Mixtures

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
This study presents a sustainable, metal‐free, one‐pot synthesis of γ‐keto sulfones and phosphine oxides using a ChCl/p‐TSA·H2O eutectic mixture. The method enables regioselective CC and CX bond formation under mild conditions, aligning with Green Chemistry Principles.

Aspergillus fumigatus and Related Species [PDF]

open access: yesCold Spring Harbor Perspectives in Medicine, 2014
The genus Aspergillus contains etiologic agents of aspergillosis. The clinical manifestations of the disease range from allergic reaction to invasive pulmonary infection. Among the pathogenic aspergilli, Aspergillus fumigatus is most ubiquitous in the environment and is the major cause of the disease, followed by Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger ...

Estimating fugitive bioaerosol releases from static compost windrows: feasibility of portable wind tunnel approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
An assessment of the fugitive release of bioaerosols from static compost piles was conducted at a green waste composting facility in South East England; this representing the initial stage of a programme of research into the influence of process ...

In Vivo Selection of a Unique Tandem Repeat Mediated Azole Resistance Mechanism (TR120) in Aspergillus fumigatus cyp51A, Denmark

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2019
We report a fatal aspergillosis case in which STRAf typing and whole-genome sequencing substantiated in vivo emergence of an azole-resistant Aspergillus fumigatus with a 120-bp tandem repeat in the promoter region of cyp51A.

Inhibitory Activity of Cinnamomum cassia Essential Oil on Yersinia enterocolitica. A Challenge Test on Sous‐Vide Cooked Deer Meat

open access: yesFlavour and Fragrance Journal, EarlyView.
Cinnamomum Cassia essential oil on Deer Meat after inoculation with Yersinia Enterocolitica. ABSTRACT This study assessed the effectiveness of minimal processing techniques on red deer meat, specifically examining the preservation potential of vacuum‐sealed samples combined with Cinnamomum cassia essential oil (CCEO) to inhibit contamination by ...

The Fungal Exopolysaccharide Galactosaminogalactan Mediates Virulence by Enhancing Resistance to Neutrophil Extracellular Traps. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2015
Of the over 250 Aspergillus species, Aspergillus fumigatus accounts for up to 80% of invasive human infections. A. fumigatus produces galactosaminogalactan (GAG), an exopolysaccharide composed of galactose and N-acetyl-galactosamine (GalNAc) that ...

Characterizing the Pathogenic, Genomic, and Chemical Traits of Aspergillus fischeri, a Close Relative of the Major Human Fungal Pathogen Aspergillus fumigatus

open access: yesMsphere, 2019
Aspergillus fumigatus is the primary cause of aspergillosis, a devastating ensemble of diseases associated with severe morbidity and mortality worldwide. A. fischeri is a close relative of A. fumigatus but is not generally observed to cause human disease.

An investigation into the transcription factors and regulatory mechanisms of Aspergillus

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Foodborne pathogen Aspergillus, a prevalent etiologic agent among filamentous fungi, are distinguished by a significant repertoire of transcription factors encoded within their genomes. These regulatory proteins are instrumental in orchestrating key biological processes, including cellular growth, secondary metabolite biosynthesis, mycotoxin production,
