Continuous hydroxylation of progesterone byAspergillus ochraceus
Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 1961In this paper are presented the results of experiments undertaken to determine what conditions are necessary for the hydroxylation of progesterone during continuous culture ofAspergillus ochraceus NRRL 405. It was found possible to operate with either one or two stages, but because of the inhibitory effect of progesterone on the growth of the ...

Two PCR assays have been developed to detect Aspergillus carbonarius and Aspergillus ochraceus, considered the main sources of ochratoxin A (OTA) contaminating commodities, particularly grapes, coffee and derivatives, in warm climates. The species specific primers have been designed on the basis of ITS (internal transcribed spacers of rDNA units ...

Preparations of extracellular proteolytic enzymes with high anticoagulant activity resembling protein C activators were isolated from the culture liquids of Aspergillus ochraceus 513 and Aspergillus alliaceus 7 dN1 by precipitation with ammonium sulfate and subsequent purification from ammonium ions by gel filtration on a column with Sephadex G-25. The

11α-Hydroxylation of steroids by spores of Aspergillus ochraceus
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1968Spores of A. ochraceus were used to transform a variety of steroids into their 11α-hydroxy derivatives. Physicochemical data of some new 11α-hydroxy derivatives are presented. Specificity of A. ochraceus in relation to steroid transformations is discussed.
