A highly efficient gene-targeting system for Aspergillus parasiticus

To establish a system that greatly increases the gene-targeting frequency in Aspergillus parasiticus.The ku70 gene, a gene of the nonhomologous end-joining (NHEJ) pathway, was replaced by the nitrate reductase gene (niaD) in A. parasiticus RHN1 that accumulates O-methylsterigmatocystin (OMST).

Structure of polygalactosamine produced by Aspergillus parasiticus.

The structure of polygalactosamine purified from the culture fluid of Aspergillus parasiticus AHU 7165 was studied. Partial acid hydrolysis of this polysaccharide, in which 55 to 65% of the monosaccharide residues were N-unsubstituted, gave a series of galactosamine oligosaccharides (dimer to hexamer) in a good yield.

YAP1-like gene modulates aflatoxin biosynthesis in Aspergillus parasiticus

In Aspergillus parasiticus Speare, NRRL 2999, lipoperoxide promotes aflatoxin biosynthesis in media favouring and not favouring their biosynthesis (potato dextrose broth -PDB- and Czapek dox broth -CD-, respectively). To stimulate oxidative stress in CD, cumene hydroperoxide (CH, 1 mM), a lipoperoxidation inducer, was used.
