Some of the Aspergilli are reputed for their versatile and efficient catabolism of soluble carbon sources and related metabolites as well as raw polymeric materials. Here, we present a detailed investigation of the genomic and evolutionary basis for this versatility, using seven Aspergillus and one Neosartorya genome sequences.

Aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1 and G2) are hepatotoxic metabolites produced by Aspergillus flavus on a number of agricultural commodities. Their levels were studied in rice samples imported to Iran through a southern port in Bushehr. Aflatoxins analysis was performed by solvent extraction, immunoaffinity clean-up and determination using high performance liquid

Detection of Aspergillus spp. and aflatoxin B1 in rice in India
Food Microbiology, 2009Twelve hundred rice samples consisting of paddy (675) and milled rice (525) were collected from 20 states across India. These samples were assessed for Aspergillus spp. infection on selective medium and aflatoxin B(1) (AFB1) by indirect competitive ELISA. In this investigation, Aspergillus flavus contamination dominated in all the seed samples.

Activity of pradimicin BMS-181184 against Aspergillus spp
International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents, 1999The pradimicins are a new class of antifungal agents with activity against the majority of human fungal pathogens. In this study, the in vitro activity of pradimicin BMS-181184 was investigated against a range of the most common species of Aspergillus. The results were compared with itraconazole and amphotericin B.

Improvement of tea leaves fermentation with Aspergillus spp. pectinase
Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering, 2002The pectinase enzymes isolated from Aspergillus spp., A. indicus, A. flavus and A. niveus were used for fermentation of tea leaves. The enzymes were purified and characterized. The effect of both crude enzyme preparation and purified pectinase enzymes on the improvement of tea leaf fermentation were determined in terms of theaflavin, thearubigin, high ...
