AreAspergillusspp. driving COPD exacerbations?
European Respiratory JournalExtract The inter-relationship between human lungs and airborne Aspergilli is both complex and dynamic. Our daily intake of Aspergillus spores and hyphal fragments varies from a few 100 to 100 000s; the latter in mouldy environments, certain occupations ...

Aspergillus spp. seropositivity in New Zealand penguins
Mycopathologia, 1995One hundred-fifty Yellow-eyed penguins (Megadyptes antipodes) of 8 populations, 20 Little blue penguins (Eudyptula minor) of 2 populations, 9 Rockhopper penguins (Eudyptes chrysocome), and 5 Adelie penguins (Pygoscelis adeliae) from New Zealand (NZ) and Antarctica (latitude range; 39 degrees 30' S - 77 degrees 13' S) were tested by indirect enzyme ...

Inactivation ofAspergillusspp. by Ozone Treatment
Ozone: Science & Engineering, 2008The article investigates the effectiveness of ozone in inhibiting the growth of two Aspergillus species, (A. flavus, A. niger) isolated from a nail affected by onychomycosis and from a biodeteriorated paper. Specifically, two main goals are to establish (i) whether differently aged colonies show different responses to the ozonization process, and (ii ...

Antifungal Therapies for Aspergillus spp.: Present and Future
Seminars in Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, 2023AbstractCurrently available and recommended options for the treatment of pulmonary aspergillosis include the triazoles, echinocandins, and amphotericin B products. These therapies have significant limitations. Only the azoles are available orally, but their use is often limited by toxicities, drug–drug interactions, pharmacokinetic variability, and ...

Production of bioethanol from plantain peels using Aspergillus spp. and Saccharomyces spp.
Scientia Africana, 2018The study investigated the production of bioethanol from ripe and unripe plantain peels. Aqueous extracts of plantain peels were obtained and inoculated with Saccharomyces cereviae and Aspergillus spp. The set-ups were incubated for a period of eight days.
