A fetal case of asplenia with fulminant pneumococcal infection [PDF]

We encountered a 14-month-old girl with asplenia who died of fulminant pneumococcal infection 2 hours after consultation. Inappropriate administration of an antibiotic for a few days prior to the onset of the episode may have been etiologically involved.
