Surfaces Associated with Sigma Models
Studies in Applied Mathematics, 2006We present a unified method of construction of surfaces associated with Grassmannian sigma models, expressed in terms of an orthogonal projector. This description leads to compact formulae for structural equations of two‐dimensional surfaces immersed in thesu(N) algebra.

Association pattern language modeling
IEEE Transactions on Audio, Speech and Language Processing, 2006Statistical n-gram language modeling is popular for speech recognition and many other applications. The conventional n-gram suffers from the insufficiency of modeling long-distance language dependencies. This paper presents a novel approach focusing on mining long distance word associations and incorporating these features into language models based on

Computational models of association cortex
Current Opinion in Neurobiology, 2000Recent computational models, or mathematical realizations of neurobiological theories, are providing insights into the organization and workings of the association cortex. Such models concern the construction of cortical maps, the neural basis of cognitive functions such as visual perception, reward-motivated learning and some aspects of consciousness.

In this work, the authors develop signaling models based on ideas from homology and discuss how to design a model of signal space which decomposes the incoming signals into classes of progressively higher levels of associative meaning. The tools needed are illustrated with a simple approach using standard linear algebra processing but this is just a ...

A model of associative memory in the brain
Kybernetik, 1973A model of associative memory for time varying spatial patterns is proposed and simulated on a digital computer. This is a network composed of many neuron-like elements, and shows an ability for associative memory similar to that of the brain.

A new model of neural associative memories
[Proceedings 1992] IJCNN International Joint Conference on Neural Networks, 1994In this paper, we present a new model of discrete neural associative memories and its design rule. The most important feature of this new model is that a static mapping instead of the dynamic convergent process is used to retrieve the stored messages. The new model features a two-layer structure, with feedforward connections only and uses two kinds of

An associative memory model of language
1990 IJCNN International Joint Conference on Neural Networks, 1990An associative-memory model of language based on a neural network is proposed. It is shown that a language with finite sentences can be stored in a neural net completely. The memorizing process is realized by a dynamical learning algorithm which is convergent.

Associatron-A Model of Associative Memory
IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1972Thinking in the human brain greatly depends upon association mechanisms which can be utilized in machine intelligence. An associative memory device, called " Associatron," is proposed. The Associatron stores entities represented by bit patterns in a distributed manner and recalls the whole of any entity from a part of it.

Broadening the scope of association models beyond the typical sociological and psychological fields, author Raymond Siu-Kwok Wong shows readers how to analyze and comprehend any social science data presented in cross-classified formats. Through a carful exposition of various association models, the text examines the underlying structure of odds-ratios,

A Weighted Voting Model of Associative Memory
IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, 2007This paper presents an analysis of a random access memory (RAM)-based associative memory which uses a weighted voting scheme for information retrieval. This weighted voting memory can operate in heteroassociative or autoassociative mode, can store both real-valued and binary-valued patterns and, unlike memory models, is equipped with a rejection ...
