ABSTRACT Crohn's disease (CD), a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), is a chronic disorder involving any part of the gastrointestinal tract. Ileocecal resection may serve as a more effective treatment option for early CD. However, the potential relationship and mechanisms between the ileocecum and remission induction of CD are still elusive.

Antitermite Activities of C. decidua Extracts and Pure Compounds against Indian White Termite Odontotermes obesus (Isoptera: Odontotermitidae)

In the present investigation, we have tested antitermite responses of Capparis decidua stem, root, flower, and fruit extracts and pure compounds to Odontotermes obesus in various bioassays. Crude stem extract has shown very high susceptibility and very low LD50 values, that is, 14.171 μg/mg in worker termites.

Drought increases Norway spruce susceptibility to the Eurasian spruce bark beetle and its associated fungi

Summary Drought affects the complex interactions between Norway spruce, the bark beetle Ips typographus and associated microorganisms. We investigated the interplay of tree water status, defense and carbohydrate reserves with the incidence of bark beetle attack and infection of associated fungi in mature spruce trees.
