Secondary metabolites in xylella fastidiosa-plant interaction [PDF]
During their evolutionary history, plants have evolved the ability to synthesize and accumulate small molecules known as secondary metabolites. These compounds are not essential in the primary cell functions but play a significant role in the plants ...

Suspect screening analysis is a targeted metabolomics method in which the identification of compounds relies on specific available information, such as their molecular formula and isotopic pattern. This method, coupled to liquid chromatography‐high‐resolution mass spectrometry, is effective in the study of grape metabolomics, in particular for ...

Fungal associates of the tree-killing bark beetle, Ips typographus, vary in virulence, ability to degrade conifer phenolics and influence bark beetle tunneling behavior [PDF]
The bark beetle Ips typographus carries numerous fungi that could be assisting the beetle in colonizing live Norway spruce (Picea abies) trees. Phenolic defenses in spruce phloem are degraded by the beetle's major tree-killing fungus Endoconidiophora ...

Insight in the phenolic composition and antioxidative properties of Vitis vinifera leaves extracts [PDF]
In the present investigation, leaf ethanolic extracts of Vitis vinifera were assayed for their polyphenolic composition and antioxidative properties. The leaves were collected during lush vegetation period (May leaves) and after the harvest (September ...

ABSTRACT Crohn's disease (CD), a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), is a chronic disorder involving any part of the gastrointestinal tract. Ileocecal resection may serve as a more effective treatment option for early CD. However, the potential relationship and mechanisms between the ileocecum and remission induction of CD are still elusive.

Resveratrol, a stilbenic compound deriving from the phenyalanine/polymalonate route, being stilbene synthase the last and key enzyme of this pathway, recently has become the focus of a number of studies in medicine and plant physiology. Increased demand for this molecule for nutraceutical, cosmetic and possibly pharmaceutic uses, makes its production a

In the present investigation, we have tested antitermite responses of Capparis decidua stem, root, flower, and fruit extracts and pure compounds to Odontotermes obesus in various bioassays. Crude stem extract has shown very high susceptibility and very low LD50 values, that is, 14.171 μg/mg in worker termites.
