A dew detector for use with astronomical telescopes [PDF]
The design of a dew detector for use on astronomical telescopes is described. The sensing element for the detector is a piece of printed-circuit board etched with a grid pattern of metallic and nonmetallic areas. The sensor grid pattern is produced on the circuit board by photoetching from a positive contact-printing mask.

Geometry‐Dependent Adhesion in Transparent Monodomain Liquid Crystal Elastomers
Liquid Crystal Elastomers (LCEs) are emerging as exciting pressure‐sensitive adhesives. We examine adhesion in chemically identical elastomer films, exploring the influence of geometry (director orientation) and phase (nematic or isotropic). We demonstrate the potential of these aligned films as transparent, tunable, broad‐temperature‐range smart ...

A 3.9 km baseline intensity interferometry photon counting experiment
In the last years we have operated two very similar ultrafast photon counting photometers (Iqueye and Aqueye+) on different telescopes. The absolute time accuracy in time tagging the detected photon with these instruments is of the order of 500 ps for ...

Materials exist that are useful for gamma scintillation, radiation shielding, neutron‐gamma pulse shape discrimination (PSD), thermal neutron detection, or high refractive index applications. While certain materials have exhibited optimal performance for each of these applications, none achieve multiple functions.

Beam-combining superconducting detector for submillimetre-wave astronomical interferometry
The feasibility of making single-chip, superconducting detectors for submillimetre-wave astronomical inteferometry is demonstrated. An experimental device based on back-to-back corrugated horns, and back-to-back finline transitions, was fabricated.

Mapping Nanoscale Buckling in Atomically Thin Cr2Ge2Te6
Atomic‐resolution STEM is used to resolve nanoscale buckling in monolayer Cr2Ge2Te₆. A noise‐robust image analysis reconstructs three‐dimensional lattice distortions from single plan‐view images, revealing pronounced defect‐driven nm‐scale out‐of‐plane buckling.

Solution‐processed OLEDs containing discotic liquid‐crystalline MR‐TADF emitters are reported. Supramolecular self‐assembly induces homeotropic columnar alignment, enforcing preferential horizontal orientation of the emitter transition dipole moment in spin‐coated films, which leads to an enhancement in the device light outcoupling efficiency while ...

Development of an orthogonal-stripe CdZnTe gamma radiation imaging spectrometer [PDF]
We report performance measurements of a sub-millimeter resolution CdZnTe strip detector developed as a prototype for astronomical instruments operating with good efficiency in the 30-300 keV photon energy range.
