[N-Benzyl-N-(2-phenylethyl)dithiocarbamato-κ2S,S′]triphenyltin(IV) and [bis(2-methoxyethyl)dithiocarbamato-κ2S,S′]triphenyltin(IV): crystal structures and Hirshfeld surface analysis

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2016
The crystal and molecular structures of two triphenyltin dithiocarbamates, [Sn(C6H5)3(C16H16NS2)], (I), and [Sn(C6H5)3(C7H14NO2S2)], (II), are described.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Differences in light interception in grass monocultures predict short-term competitive outcomes under productive conditions.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2007
Due to its inherent asymmetry, competition for light is thought to cause loss of diversity from eutrophied systems. However, most of the work on this topic in grasslands has been phenomenological and has not measured light directly.

Is an Apple an Orange? A Large Language Model Benchmark for Candidate Term Extraction and Subclass Decisions Against Upper Ontologies in Engineering and Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.

The asymmetric dominance effect: Three-attribute phantom alternative at play [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this thesis I investigate asymmetric dominance effect in hypothetical consumer choice. The main goal of this study is to determine if asymmetrically dominated unavailable alternative (phantom decoy) can cause preference shifts toward the target option

A non-helical supramolecular chiral catalyst for the asymmetric diels-alder reaction

open access: yesGiant
The research of supramolecular chiral catalyst morphology is critically important in asymmetric catalysis, yet current research predominantly focuses on helical architectures, with non-helical systems remaining underexplored.

Microstructure‐Controlled Crack Propagation and Fracture Resistance in MoSiBTiC Alloy Revealed by Multiscale Extended Finite Element Method Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐dimensional multiscale finite element analysis framework was established for the first‐generation MoSiBTiC alloy, and the mechanical and fracture‐related parameters of the constituent phases were calibrated through experiments and simulations. The framework provides a basis for analyzing crack propagation behavior in its complex microstructure ...

The Lateralization of Speech-Brain Coupling Is Differentially Modulated by Intrinsic Auditory and Top-Down Mechanisms

open access: yesFrontiers in Integrative Neuroscience, 2019
The lateralization of neuronal processing underpinning hearing, speech, language, and music is widely studied, vigorously debated, and still not understood in a satisfactory manner.

High‐Temperature Nanoindentation of Metals: Assessing Thermal Drift, Frame Compliance, and Chemical Composition Effects on the Reported Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

Airport Dominance and Airline Pricing Power: An Investigation of Hub Premiums in the Chinese Domestic Market [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Concerns on market power conferred by airport dominance and the debates of hub premiums have attracted longstanding attention from governments and academics alike.
