The role of venture‐financed startups in innovation for US agriculture

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract To evaluate the role played by startup companies in the innovation ecosystem of US agriculture, we compile a unique dataset of 6024 new entrants founded 1987–2019 that details their financing lifecycles, annual economic performance, and patenting activities.

Parameter estimates from the Richards equation for the cumulative questing distribution, where λ is the temperature at which questing suddenly starts to increase, µ is the maximum slope of the curve, ν is the is a shape parameter describing how close to the asymptote the maximum slope of the curve is and A is the Asymptote.

Late Cytomegalovirus Infections After Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplant

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Graft versus host disease (GVHD) prophylaxis with posttransplant cyclophosphamide (ptCY) and cytomegalovirus (CMV) prophylaxis with letermovir have changed the clinical epidemiology of CMV infection. We studied the incidence, risk factors for, and outcomes of CMV infection after Day + 90 of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (alloHCT ...

The cumulative niche approach: A framework to assess the performance of ecological niche model projections

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Ecological Niche Models (ENMs) are often used to project species distributions within alien ranges and in future climatic scenarios. However, ENMs depend on species‐environment equilibrium, which may be absent for actively expanding species. We present a

Teoria matemática implícita na geometria fractal: construindo fractais com a ferramenta computacional Asymptote [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This work consists the historic report of the origin of Fractal Geometry, and highlighted the figure of Benoît Mandelbrot, identified as pioneer in this area, whose fractal bears his name. Shows the pioneers fractals, as well as the construction of these

Heat Transfer Asymptote in Laminar Tube Flows of Non-Linear Viscoelastic Fluids

open access: yes, 2010
The fully developed thermal field in constant pressure gradient driven laminar flow of a class of nonlinear viscoelastic fluids with instantaneous elasticity in straight pipes of arbitrary contour ∂D with constant wall flux is investigated. The nonlinear

Research on Diaphragm Pump Fault Diagnosis Method Based on Res‐DCB‐Net

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nonstationary pressure pulsation signals of diaphragm pumps contain strong background noise and coupled characteristics. This makes it challenging to extract incipient fault features and to decouple faults with similar physical mechanisms. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a spatiotemporal fault diagnosis model named Res‐DCB ...

A New Paradigm for Understanding the Rheology and Processability of Poly(p‐Phenylene Terephthalamide) Liquid‐Crystalline Solutions

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Kevlar is traditionally modeled as a rigid‐rod polymer, yet rheological behavior deviates from this assumption. The review introduces a novel “twist‐tie” entanglement theory for aramid polymer chains in the nematic liquid crystal state, providing a molecular explanation for deviations from rigid‐rod models. Understanding twist‐tie entanglement dynamics

On the Asymptotics of Drift

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Sciences, 2004
We prove that there exist infinitely many asymptotics of drift for random walks on finitely generated groups.
