Atherosclerosis [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 1968
The effectiveness of the research endeavor in atherogenesis is searchingly considered because neither how to prevent nor how to cure atherosclerosis is known, and there is no decision about what atherosclerosis looks like. In the overview one of the most serious problems is failure to see the whole problem. Systematic marshalling of detail is

Flexible, Integrated‐Porous Microneedle Sensor for Biofluid Sampling and On‐Site Biomarker Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A paper‐integrated porous PGA microneedle array patch capable of both high strength and absorption capacity is proposed. With an image‐processing system, an optimized colorimetric sensor achieves a low limit of detection of 0.09 mm in cholesterol.

MiRNAs as biomarkers of nutritional therapy to achieve T2DM remission in patients with coronary heart disease: from the CORDIOPREV study

open access: yesNutrition & Diabetes
Background Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is currently a major global public health problem. Although disease remission is possible, few biomarkers have been identified which can help us select the diet that best promotes remission. Our aim was to study

Alterations of the plasma lipoproteins and apoproteins following cholesterol feeding in the rat

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1977
The feeding of cholesterol to rats resulted in marked alterations in the type and distribution of the plasma lipoproteins and their apoproteins. The hyperlipoproteinemia was characterized by an increase in the d < 1.006 lipoproteins (B-VLDL and VLDL), an

Pathogenesis of Atherosclerosis

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 2006
Atherosclerosis is a multifocal, smoldering, immunoinflammatory disease of medium-sized and large arteries fuelled by lipids. Endothelial cells, leukocytes, and intimal smooth muscle cells are the major players in the development of this disease. The most devastating consequences of atherosclerosis, such as heart attack and stroke, are caused by ...
