Elevated cardiovascular risk associated with hormone replacement therapy: A comprehensive analysis of reproductive factors and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease outcomes in the UK Biobank cohort

Among 170,250 UK Biobank women (2006–2024), ever HRT use was associated with higher incident ASCVD risk (adjusted HR 1.13, 95% CI 1.08–1.18), largely driven by ischemic stroke. Associations were stronger in women ≤45 years and during perimenopause. Mediation via sex hormones, inflammatory markers, or lipids was minimal (<2%).

Angiogenic biomarker concentrations and their relation to coronary atherosclerosis in women with a history of preeclampsia: Findings from the CPH‐PRECIOUS study

This study demonstrates that women with prior preeclampsia had significantly higher concentrations of PlGF when CT‐assessed coronary atherosclerosis was present years following the index pregnancy, whereas no difference was found for concentrations of sFlt‐1.

Neuropathology of a patient with Parkinson's disease and biallelic expansion in RFC1

This is the first report of neuropathology in biallelic RFC1 expansion‐associated Parkinson’s disease (PD). It shows a synucleinopathy of intraneuronal Lewy bodies consistent with the clinical PD diagnosis while neuropathological CANVAS (Cerebellar Ataxia with Neuropathy and bilateral Vestibular Areflexia) features were absent.

Non‐canonical PKG1 regulation in cardiovascular health and disease

It is well established that the cyclic GMP‐dependent protein kinase I (PKG1) is canonically activated by cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), enabling its regulation of vascular tone, cardiac function and smooth muscle homeostasis. However, diverse non‐canonical stimuli of PKG1 have also been identified.
