Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2021
Atlantic horse mackerel is one of the most commercially important species in Europe. It can reach a longevity of 30 years, with potential implications in lifespan mercury contamination. This study conducted along the Portuguese coast aimed at evaluating the total Hg content and tissue distribution, to determine the annual mercury bioaccumulation ...

Abstract FT-Raman spectroscopy was undertaken for quantitative characterization of lipids in horse mackerel ( Trachurus Trachurus ) and Atlantic mackerel ( Scomber scombrus ). Peroxide value of fish lipids and protein extractability of the fish lipids and muscles were also measured by titration and Bradford assay, respectively.

Weight-length relations for the Atlantic horse mackerel of the Portuguese coast
2010Weight-length relations were estimated for Atlantic horse mackerel from the Portuguese coast, from 2000 to 2007. A total of 31240 individuals (16549 females and 14691 males) ranging from 11.7 to 43.6 cm total length were sampled and W-L relations were analysed by year, month, season, sex and fishing region.

Time-series (1967 -1997) of environmental variables such as air and sea surface temperature (SST), precipitation, wind, Ekman transport, and mean sea level, as well as time-series (1985-1997) of recruitment of horse mackerel, were studied in Atlantic Iberian waters. All time-series were analysed for autocorrelation.

Population parameters of the Atlantic horse mackerel Trachurus trachurus were investigated using size-at-age data derived from regular monthly samples comprising 962 individuals (488 males, 358 females and 116 undetermined). Samples were collected from the population living near the North Atlantic Moroccan coast (Larache area) between June 2005 and ...
